DIAM'S RAISES FUNDS FOR AN ORPHANAGE IN MALI

Diam's récolte des fonds pour un orphelinat au Mali

Humanitarian causes are increasingly defended by urban artists, as evidenced for example by the obvious desire of Damso in September to build an orphanage in Congo DRC. A few days ago, it was Niro who worked for the homeless by using his social media. Today, it is the former rapper Diam's , one of the biggest that the French game has known, who invests to help an orphanage in Mali .

Diam's calls for our generosity

It's through her Instagram account that Melanie Georgiades, better known as Diam's, made a donation appeal. The volunteer organization Big Up Project that it supports acts for the protection of underprivileged children in Africa , and provides financial support to reception centers for young people in difficulty, especially with the mobilization of volunteers. It was after a humanitarian trip to Africa in January 2009 that Diam's invested in it. In particular, she had donated the full royalties of her SOS album to the association ; she was also the very first donor.

This time, it is for a specific purpose that the woman is asking for her community. In Mali, she supports the orphanage of Dialakoroba, which has 38 children . As she explains in her last two publications, the donations would help Fatoumata, the founder of the orphanage, to buy clothes, medicine, food or anything else that would allow children to live in conditions decent.

The rap involved in the humanitarian

Fully committed to the humanitarian cause, Diam's continues to work in the shadow of showbusiness, an environment which she preferred to deviate in the 2010s. She tells it in particular in Melanie, French and Muslim , his second biography published in 2015 , in which she returns to her withdrawal from French rap and her conversion to Islam . Involved in the organization Big Up Project, she is one of those people who act for the collective good. In rap, this awareness is democratized. Multiple examples are the proof, as for example the concert of the Abbé Road which every year in October brings together headliners to raise funds : Rimk, Vald, Ninho or Sadek were part of the 2018 edition.
